Chef Ian Nagelson
Ian Hopkins Nagelson, also known as Chef Ian, was a native of Pennsylvania, USA. A graduate of Johnson and Wales University Ian, received a degree with honours in culinary arts as well as food service management. Whilst being educated at Johnson and Wales Ian was handpicked to represent his school at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, Wales. It was here Ian gained a passion for the United Kingdom and realised the potential for culinary success.
His passion for food has taken him across the world, working in some top restaurants.
While studying culinary arts, Ian worked in Chambery France under a Michelin Starred chef, New Orleans Louisiana at one of the oldest and well know restaurants in the French Quarter, New England USA region of Rhode Island and New York we he learned hotel catering as well as extending his personal chef experience and Charleston South Carolina practicing “low country” cuisine one of the city’s best loved treasures. After graduation he traveled West where he learned key vegetarian and vegan styles of cooking as well as helping to run one of Colorado’s great Pan Asian Restaurants in Boulder Colorado.
Chef Ian and a fellow graduate proceeded to expand their experience and start the Cayman Islands Number one catering establishment Mise en Place. Chef Ian spent 7 years working to develop this business which managed 7 schools, 3 B&I sites as well as opening and running a New York Style Pizzeria. Along with catering events from 2 to 500 people Chef Ian was instrumental in helping create a company that still excels today.
Having returned to the UK Chef Ian and his team have put together a new catering concept specialising in personal touches whilst offering value, health and nutrition and cutting-edge catering techniques. Always learning, Chef Ian travels extensively to further study the culinary arts around the world bringing these tastes and techniques back to the UK for his valued clients.
